Slow Train to Waterloo

Inspired by the Class 455 EMUs found around South West London, ‘Slow Train to Waterloo’ continues the themes of its indirect prequel, ‘Under the Mersey’, with reverb-drenched train soundscapes and ambient drones dotted across the project. The more hazy, almost dreamy sound of many songs was inspired by my commutes home during autumn and winter evenings with Class 455s, with many tracks, such as ‘Windsor & Eton Riveride’ & ‘Guildford’ aiming to replicate the feeling of staring out into the darkness, half asleep, on your way home from a long day. A few tracks develop a slight groove, alotugh none venture too far from the overall ambient nature of the album. The 17 minute piano track which outros the album, bounces between quite and busy, reflecting a day in the life of a major commuter terminus, as well as serving as a reflection on the 2 and half hour experience that just occurred.
